"We've now been back from our holiday for a couple of weeks and just had to write to thank you again for the tour you organized for us in Vietnam. Everything went smoothly - the 3 guides who took care of us along the way were excellent (friendly, knowledgeable and helpful).
"I have been booking Hotel rooms through www.indochinaguides.com for the past year - reason being it is able to give very good rates and fast service. I have tried other websites before but none of them can match that of indochinaguides.com for geting value-for money Hotel rooms in Vietnam"
More tourists return every year to stock wardrobes with their own creations made cheaply in Hoi An. Prices are rising but this is still one of the cheapest places to shop on earth!
The tailor shops in Hoi An carry many different fabrics. You will find an array of different colours, patterns, textures & quality of fabric.
Travelling by train through the length of the country you become part of the scene rather than remaining a detached onlooker, seeing Vietnam as the Vietnamese see it. The train trips take you from North to South, Hanoi to Sapa... covering several major attractions along the way, including the picturesque fishing town of Hoi An, the the awe-inspiring Haivan pass, the former Imperial capital of Hue, the scenic coastal area of Nhatrang and the vibrant metropolis of Saigon. Train conditions will vary but for the most part will be of a decent standard. The scenery is particularly breathtaking and travelling by train you’ll have the chance to meet a multitude of people from farmers to ethnic hill tribes as well as a host of smiling children along the way. If you travel between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh city with many hop on and off the Reunification Express or the luxury Victoria Express (Victoria Hotels in Vietnam ) between Hanoi and Sapa. The border crossing between Vietnam and China was reopened. This is in the South Western part of China and the North Eastern part of Vietnam. The train takes you right into Hanoi city. The train journey is quite an interesting experience and I would highly recommend it for the adventurous tourist. I took the train from China into Vietnam. On the Chinese side, the trains are the best that there are in China - air-conditioned and even the hard sleepers are air-conditioned. When the train pulls into the boarder on the Chinese side, a whole contingent of soldiers come onboard, search the carriages and ask lots of questions if you seem vaguely suspicious. On the Vietnam side, you have to get off and go through immigration and customs. If you are a foreigner, they usually have you go last, perhaps hoping to get a bribe. The customs procedure is very thorough. They make you take out everything one by one to check that you are not smuggling anything into the country.
